I’m Sanaphay Rattanavong, a Toronto-based writer and writing educator working at the intersection of culture, technology, and social analysis.

My writing draws on a background in journalism, arts, and science to connect unexpected dots — personal experience to systemic patterns, abstract ideas to lived reality. I’ve been supported by grants from the Walker Art Center and the Minnesota State Arts Board, and my work spans freelance articles, essays, newsletters, and long-form research.

I think of myself as an interdisciplinary bridge-builder rather than a specialist. The through-line across everything I write is a commitment to making complex ideas accessible without flattening them — staying curious rather than certain, and inviting readers into discovery rather than just delivering conclusions.

## Writing

My work touches on gender, race, and power through pop culture and current events; the cultural politics of technology and AI; human-animal relationships and environmental ethics; and Toronto’s evolving cultural landscape. I write for publications, maintain a Substack, and have published an e-book, *Intentional Speaking* (2025).

## Tutoring & Writing Education

Alongside my writing practice, I work one-on-one with students and adult learners who want to become stronger, more confident writers. I focus especially on structure, clarity, argument, and revision — helping people find their voice and make their ideas land on the page.

If you’re a student, adult learner, or multilingual writer looking for thoughtful, individualized writing support, I’d love to hear from you.
